It is with deep sadness that we have learnt of the passing of Abel-Didier Pansard.

Abel-Didier Pansard devoted a significant part of his career to the training of judicial officers. As President of the French National School of Procedural Law, he presented his organisation and his experience at numerous international seminars and conferences, notably in Casablanca in 2004, and subsequently in Sinaia, Tunis and Astana in 2007. He subsequently led the International Council for the Training of Judicial Officers, established in conjunction with the UIHJ. In November 2008, at the Permanent Council meeting in Paris, President Jacques Isnard described him as ‘undoubtedly our greatest specialist in the field of training’. This tribute sums up what the UIHJ owes him.

Nor do we forget his role alongside the UIHJ in the creation of UIHJ-EuroMed, in Marseille, on 30 April 2004, nor his constant commitment to high-standard training, delivered at national, European and international levels. Many colleagues, both in France and around the world, have benefited from his knowledge and his dedication to passing on his expertise.

The UIHJ will remember him as a competent colleague, committed and loyal to the profession. Our thoughts are with his family, his loved ones and all those who worked with him.
