The International Union of Judicial Officers (UIHJ) participated in the 17th National Congress of Federal Judicial Officers of Brazil, held on 13 and 14 August 2026 in Brasília, the capital of Brazil.
Organised by FENASSOJAF, the national association representing Brazilian Federal Judicial Officers, the Congress is one of the country’s major professional gatherings for the profession. It brings together judicial officers from across Brazil, as well as representatives of professional organisations and the judiciary.
The UIHJ was represented by Malone Cunha, Member of the Board of the UIHJ and Brazilian Judicial Officer. On 13 August, he took part in the official opening ceremony of the Congress alongside representatives of Brazilian judicial officers’ organisations and distinguished guests.
On 14 August, Malone Cunha also participated in a dedicated panel focusing on the latest developments in Artificial Intelligence and their applications to the work of judicial officers.
He shared the panel with Juliana Barbacena, a Brazilian Judicial Officer from the State of Goiás. Together, they addressed the opportunities offered by Artificial Intelligence, as well as the challenges it raises and the technological transformations it is bringing to the profession.
The UIHJ’s participation in this Congress reflects its continued commitment to the modernisation of the profession, innovation and the international exchange of experience, at a time when Artificial Intelligence is playing an increasingly important role in the transformation of justice systems and enforcement procedures.
