The International Union of Judicial Officers (UIHJ) had the pleasure of taking part in the official reception of a delegation of 25 judicial officers from Kazakhstan during an institutional visit organised in Belgium, hosted at the premises of the Belgian National Chamber of Judicial Officers.
The session was opened by Dominique Vaussort, Secretary of the CNHB, who welcomed the Kazakh delegation and highlighted the importance of such institutional exchanges in strengthening ties between enforcement professions.
On this occasion, Marc Schmitz, President of the UIHJ, presented the role, missions, and values of the International Union of Judicial Officers. He recalled the global vocation of the UIHJ, its commitment to high professional standards, continuous training, and innovation in the service of an effective, accessible, and humane justice system. This presentation placed the work of the UIHJ in a global context and highlighted the common challenges faced by judicial officers around the world.
Patrick Gielen, International Affairs Adviser of the CNHB and Secretary General of the UIHJ, then presented the missions and functioning of the Belgian National Chamber of Judicial Officers. His presentation provided a clearer understanding of the organisation of the Belgian enforcement system, the institutional role of the National Chamber, and the balance between professional independence, legal regulation, and the public service of justice.
The exchanges that followed were particularly rich and constructive. They focused on shared themes such as procedural efficiency, access to information, legal certainty, professional ethics, and the evolution of the profession of judicial officer in a context of digital and societal transformation.
The UIHJ welcomes the high quality of this dialogue and the strong interest shown by the Kazakh delegation in European experiences. These meetings fully illustrate the added value of international cooperation and confirm the central role of the UIHJ as a platform for exchange, reflection, and convergence among enforcement professions worldwide.
The UIHJ warmly thanks the Belgian National Chamber of Judicial Officers for its hospitality, as well as the delegation from Kazakhstan for its commitment and the quality of the discussions, and looks forward to future prospects for cooperation.
