On March 12, 2025, the International Union of Judicial Officers (UIHJ), represented by its President Marc Schmitz, Secretary General Patrick Gielen, and Special Advisor Luis Ignacio Ortega Alcubierre, was officially received at the headquarters of the Order of Solicitors and Enforcement Agents (OSAE) in Lisbon by the newly elected Bastonária Anabela Veloso.

Also present at this meeting were Mara Fernandes, President of the Professional Council of the College of Enforcement Agents (CPCAE), as well as Vanessa Vieira and Bárbara Filipa Pinheiro, members of the General Council and CPCAE, respectively.

This first official meeting between the new leadership of OSAE and the UIHJ delegation provided an opportunity to convey, on behalf of all members of the international organization, a message of congratulations to Bastonária Anabela Veloso on her election, along with best wishes for success during her mandate.

The discussions focused in particular on the organization of the UIHJ International Congress, scheduled for 2027, for which Portugal has been chosen as the host country. This congress represents a major event for the profession of judicial officers worldwide, and its organization in Lisbon marks an important recognition of OSAE’s role and standing on the international stage.

In addition to the preparation of this future congress, several topics of common interest were addressed, including the prospects for strengthening cooperation between UIHJ and OSAE, as well as the current and future challenges of the profession.

Through this meeting, UIHJ and OSAE reaffirmed their shared commitment to pursue an active partnership, based on the exchange of expertise, mutual support, and the promotion of high standards for the profession of judicial officer on an international level.

This renewed dialogue with OSAE’s new leadership heralds promising collaborations for the future, particularly in the preparation of the 2027 congress, which is expected to be a key moment for the global judicial officer community.
