The most recent Council Meeting of the European Law Institute took place in Vienna on 3-4 March 2025. At the Council meeting the ELI report on Enforcement Against Digital Assets was unanimously approved.
This output follows from the first phase of the project, which culminated in the ELI Principles on the Use of Digital Assets in security in 2022 (available here). The report contributes to the global debate by setting out Principles and Implementation Guidance aimed at courts, lawmakers and international organisations reforming, adapting, interpreting, or applying enforcement rules, procedures, and methods in the field. In this project, the first vice-president of UIHJ, Jos Uitdehaag, together with prof. Teresa Rodríguez de las Heras Ballell, were the reporters. The final version of the output will be up for Membership approval soon.
