The Polish National Council of Judicial Officers (KRK) has unveiled an innovative educational program for young children entitled “Forest Tales of Judicial Officer Badger.” This initiative is designed to introduce the role of the judicial officer and the assistant judicial officer to children in a clear, engaging, and age-appropriate way, while fostering from an early age a positive and accurate perception of the profession.
At the heart of the project lies the illustrated children’s story “Judicial Officer Badger and the Recovered Nuts.” Its main character, Stefan the Badger, visits a forest school and, through simple and playful examples, explains what a court judgment is and why a judicial officer’s mission is not to take things away, but to help ensure that everyone recovers what rightfully belongs to them. As part of the program, judicial officers and their assistants visit kindergartens and primary schools (grades 1–3). They read the story to the children, demonstrate how their daily work contributes to justice and fairness, and offer small gifts such as a copy of the book, stickers, or T-shirts featuring the Badger character. The book is also available in English and in French.
The overarching aim is to build a truthful and unbiased image of the profession, free from stereotypes and misconceptions. By reaching out to the youngest generation, KRK highlights that education is an investment in the future: nurturing a society that recognizes the essential role and mission of judicial officers as key actors of justice.
