Since 2006, the government of Mauritius has started a vast plan of reforms intended to liberalize and open its economy, to position on activities with strong added value and to make the island a pole of excellence. Thus a reform of the legal organization is in hand. The statute of the judicial officers of the island is also concerned. Currently civil servants, they should adopt in the future a liberal statute. It is within this framework that Rama Valayden met Guy Duvelleroy, President of the CNHJ and several members of the board and of the CNHJ, as well as the UIHJ, represented by its first secretary, Mathieu Chardon, and by Françoise Andrieux.

During all the morning, Mr. Valayden, could obtain accurate information on the functioning of the profession in France: statute, access to the profession, training, conditions of exercise, liability.

Guy Duvelleroy assured the Minister for justice of the support of the French judicial officers for the reforms that will be implemented in the direction of the liberalization of the profession.

The UIHJ congratulates Mauritius for this step and naturally joins France to give its full support and assistance and this project.
